Well, before we get too far -- I'll offer that we tend to only recommend LDAP if you really need it :-)
That is, if you're managing many users across multiple servers, or you have thousands, perhaps tens of thousands, of users on a given server.
Outside of that, it's tough to recognize a benefit to LDAP -- and LDAP brings a decent layer of complexity with it.
