Joomla Install Script for RT Launcher Demo Content

Does anyone have instructions for installing the RocketTheme Launcher demo content on a VirtualMin joomla site?

RocketTheme [ http://www.rockettheme.com ] provides templates for Joomla CMS sites. As part of the template, they also provide Rocket Launcher, special installation instructions to create an exact copy of the demo site [ http://www.rockettheme.com/video/joomla15/installing-rocketlauncher-joom... ]

But this doesn't allow for the installation of the custom demo content into the database for any of the Joomla sites setup as using the VirtualMin installation script.

Does anyone have experience installing RT Launcher demo content in this situation?

the rocket launcher is not part of the template. it is the other way around.
the rocket launcher is meant to install a joomla site as a replica of their template.

you can not use it on a already installed virtualmin joomla site.

you can, after installing through the RTlauncher, bring it under virtualmin's script installers control for future updates though, but it's a bit tricky to do.

to bring an existing script under control of virtualmin do: install the script in a subfolder (to be deleted afterwards)

then go to /etc/webmin/virtual-server/scriptlog

order on date so your last installed script is on top. go in the folder and edit the scriptlog.

change the needed values to those found in your original config.php (I've put a red dot behind the lines) Save the file. Uninstall the unneeded script from the domain (/joomla in this case)

Your rockettheme installation is now under virtualmins control.

Thanks. Once you have coopted the .script file from the /joomla install, though, you can't then uninstall it, because it's been replaced in the list. You have to manually rm -rf the dir, right? and manually remove the db? Ken

The rocket launcher content is only meant for fresh installs and should not be used on a live site. You will have to install manually from scratch. It's not as hard as it sounds, in fact there is a video tutorial featured right on the Rocket Theme website at http://www.rockettheme.com/joomla-tutorials.

When you have problems with things you are installing, remember to contact the software developers of the specific thing you are trying to install.

I have done things like this a couple of times. The easiest way I have found is to use the Install Scripts, then overwrite the installed script with the RocketLauncher (or equivalent from other template vendor). It appears that updates via Virtualmin work, which is a great benefit.

Personally I wouldn't see any benefit with putting demo content on a production site though. Great to install the demo sites to see how the template provider has done things, but worth taking the time to do things yourself.

But yes I totally agree with you, it's much easier to let Virtualmin handle the Joomla updates for my clients :)
