Is there any reason why Webmin uses the older version 1.3.0a of proftpd rather than the latest stable version 1.3.2 that is available as an rpm? I am thinking about installing from the dag repo rpm but...
So I see from a lack of response that there probably isn't really a reason other then that it is the latest package in the Virtualmin distro.
I did in fact upgrade from the dag repo to proftpd 1.3.2 with no problems. One nice thing is that the setcred error is now gone. chroot is still an issue however when using PAM authorization.

Yeah, I'm not sure how the package selection process there works.
If you're hoping to see a more recent version in the repo's, you might consider filing a feature request using the Bugs and Issues link below.
