I'm working on the repo maintenance tools today, and I'm taking the opportunity to reduce the runtime of repo syncs and updates by killing off some old operating systems that are no longer supported by their vendor.
No one should be running EOL operating systems on servers, anyway, so hopefully it will effect no one. But, I didn't want to turn off updates for these systems silently. If you are running one of these systems, you should make immediate plans to upgrade, as your system has been without security updates from the vendor for months or even years. (You'll probably want to do a security audit, as well, during the upgrade process.)
The following systems are affected:
Fedora 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. We really recommend no one run Fedora on servers at all, because the life cycle is extremely short (about 12 months, usually) and reliability is pretty low, but I'll get Fedora 10 support into our repos soon, so folks have a good target to upgrade to.
Debian 3.1 (sarge)
These systems are also being moved to a new section of the OS support page to hopefully make it clear to folks that they shouldn't be starting new servers up with these old and unsupported operating systems.
