Before anyone asks about Ubuntu 8.04LTS...

Since I know I'm going to be inundated with a million (this might be a slight exaggeration) queries about Ubuntu 8.04LTS now that it has been released, I thought I'd nip it in the bud and state, for the record:

  • I'm installing Ubuntu 8.04LTS as we speak

  • I expect support to be available for it within a week

  • 32 bit support will come first, but 64 bit support will follow within hours--we always provide both 32 and 64 bit versions of every supported OS

  • It will be released immediately after I see Virtualmin install successfully on the platform (even if there are some minor issues)--no need to ask for an early release...if it works and all packages are available, it'll be available, until then, I'm not going to inflict it on anyone

  • I'm excited about it, too. We have a lot of Ubuntu users (it's the third most popular OS after RHEL/CentOS and Debian), despite the decrepitude of Ubuntu 6.06LTS, so I'll be happy to see folks able to use modern packages on their favorite distro (I'll reserve judgment on whether it's as good as Debian 4.0 for servers until I've played with it for a while).

I believe that covers all the questions I usually get when a new OS version comes out. Feel free to add more to this thread (with the knowledge that time spent answering questions is time not spent working on Ubuntu 8.04LTS support!). ;-)
