hi is there a simple way in VM to configure it for ddos protection? I read this document http://www.rfxnetworks.com/apf.php and they offer software.
Would this make sense? Any other thoughts?
thank you
I think that defending against DDoS is pretty much harder than it may seems. Power of DDoS comes from "difficulty" to filter out incomming traffic or requests and attacker uses some protocol specifications such as 4 times reply on DNS requests and so on.
And there are many types of DDoS attacks so good luck.
I don't think firewall on target host can protect you against flood when you have "thiner" line than attacker.
Really you need a nice <a href='http://gigabitdc.com' target='_blank'>ddos protection</a> company that is ready to do upstream filtering to stop a DDoS attack in case you have a problem.
APF (Advanced Firewall Policies) will afford some protection I believe. It's a simple script to install and works quite well.
If you do deice to install apf make sure you get the ports correct. Been thru this with Joe http://www.virtualmin.com/index.php?option=com_fireboard&Itemid=77&a...
