Strange incident -- Please Advise

I'm running the latest Virtulamin Pro, CentOS4 .....

I'm not sure how this happened but I see the following

  1. Extra Domain listed as a number, if I try to delete it says it does not exist. (also uses a vm license)

  2. Approx 40 extra mail users listed in the stats screen, I can not see these users in postfix.

  3. In IP allocation section I see "(Private IP)" mixed in with my other ip allocations with no ip or domain name associated.

  4. server seems to have boot issues that caused me to go into single user mode then init runlevel 3 (This is probably a different issue.

I have run several programs to check for rootkits (found none)

Thanks in advance for your advice.

First up, you might want to try clicking &quot;Refresh system information&quot; just to be sure the System Information page has up to date data (this process should run every five minutes, but maybe cron has stopped running on your system, or that cronjob has been removed).

<div class='quote'>1. Extra Domain listed as a number, if I try to delete it says it does not exist. (also uses a vm license)</div>

I have no idea what you mean by &quot;Extra Domain listed as a number&quot;.

<div class='quote'>2. Approx 40 extra mail users listed in the stats screen, I can not see these users in postfix.</div>

Hmm...Never seen this behavior. Did you, perhaps delete a virtual server and choose not to delete its mailboxes? Have this many mail users existed in the past on this system and been deleted? There might be a bug in deletion or in reporting if those changes aren't reflected (though I'm not seeing any problems on my boxes).

<div class='quote'>3. In IP allocation section I see &quot;(Private IP)&quot; mixed in with my other ip allocations with no ip or domain name associated.</div>

Hmmm...That'd definitely be a bug. Not sure under what circumstances it would pop up. But I'll see if I can reproduce it.

<div class='quote'>4. server seems to have boot issues that caused me to go into single user mode then init runlevel 3 (This is probably a different issue.</div>

Virtualmin doesn't do anything with booting. We might be able to lend some guidance, anyway, though, if you send along the error messages you get when booting.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Post edited by: Joe, at: 2008/03/12 13:59
