Support for ampersand (&) in Email Address

Does Virtualmin support the creation of an email address with ampersand (&) in the email?

Example: my&email@somedomain.com

I tested it, and it seems to create it fine, but then... when i tried to edit the email, several things seems to be .. broken (eg. cannot change password, some html error).

Post edited by: LawrenceOng, at: 2007/12/20 13:24

Hmmm...I'm pretty sure that's going to cause problems all over the place. Virtualmin probably shouldn't even allow you to create such a user. The ampersand has special meaning to the UNIX shell, which could cause serious weirdness in other tools, even if Virtualmin and Webmin manage to handle it correctly (which is sounds like it doesn't).

I'll ask Jamie to chime in on this thread.

Actually, Virtualmin shouldn't be allowing the use of special characters like & in usernames at all - it will cause too many problems for Unix commands like 'cd' and for mail delivery. I will prevent this in the next release..
