This Forum needs a "Report" option

please update the forums to include a "report" option for spam based posts here. See the following as just one example...

https://www.virtualmin.com/comment/818467#comment-818467

the other nite i stumbled across a single thread that had at least half a dozen spam posts that had nothing to do with Virtualmin. Its too cumbersome to have to send emails directly about these things.

Howdy,

This Forum doesn't have an awesome way to do that (as this Forum software sucks), but we're looking into alternative software that can handle that better.

I expect to be able to put a Discourse forum online very soon. It has incredibly better spam fighting and moderation tools. Today I got Single Sign-on working with Drupal, and I'm doing a test data migration from this Drupal forum right now, which seems to be going pretty well (we have tens of thousands of posts and comments, so it takes over an hour for each test run).

Since things are pretty dire with the current forum and I don't have a lot of spare time to devote to it, I'm going to punt and skip making old forum links redirect to the new forum (it'd take code, and I still suck at Drupal programming even after all these years). So, I'll just put a big "This forum is archived. Please visit new-forum-url." notice on the old forum archives and disallow new posts. All the old content is going over, so hopefully search engines will begin to prefer the new one eventually (though search engines still seem to return archived Joomla doc URLs from more than a decade ago even when there's new versions that have been around for years...so, who knows what goes on in the minds of machines).

So, with some luck we'll have a much nicer forum in the next few days.
