Clarification of status of development of MariaDB support.

Hi,

I've been starting to migrate from ISPConfig to VirtualMin by testing installation using a VM.

I am used to using MariaDB. I notice that the Post Installation Script specifically references MariaDB. However I had some problems on Ubuntu 16.04 with MySQL setup file detection. This can be fixed by setting it to "/etc/mysql/conf.d/mysql.cnf" in the correct VirtualMin module page ( https://techjourney.net/mariadb-webmin-mysql-startup-script-etcrc-dinit-... ). After that I thought I'd cracked it but then got this error on creating a new virtual server ...

MySQL database failed! : mysql::execute_sql_logged failed : DBI connect failed : Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) at ../web-lib-funcs.pl line 1478

So after that I've decided to remove MariaDB and stick with MySQL. There just seem to be too many problems with it at the moment.

So to clarify, what is the development status of MariaDB support ? Does VirtualMin expect to have full working support for MariaDB some time in the future ?
