If backing up as server administrator user, which best local directory for virtualmin>backup and restore>backup virtual servers

If i am running virtual server backups as the "webmin" administrator, what is best location for virtualmin>Backup and Restore> backup virtual servers?

is it best to have them in a location where only "root" (or at least the webmin senior administrator group) has access?

or otherwise,

home/ opt/ var/ usr/

is there any reason why these backups should not go into /home/ (in a new directory call "virtual server backups").

my thinking process says that its best to have these kinds of backups accessible in a directory that only high level webmin administrators have access...so it might be best outside of /home/

Or, is it safe enough to use the /home/ directory and just ensure that access permissions are root:root or something like that?
