It would be cool to have automatized way to measure network speed. At least in my case the network seems slower some times and it would be neat to have fast and easy way to check it. I know this is quite impossible to measure accurately but even less accurate would be helpful.
And then you could make a System Status check of it.

That depends on what you're after exactly.
I can't think of how we could possibly implement bandwidth testing. The server itself can't test its own bandwidth--you need a server outside to pull a bunch of data from in order to know anything about the network. While we have a lot of bandwidth to burn here at Virtualmin.com, we don't have enough to use it for speed testing of the hundreds of Virtualmin servers out there.
That said, I am working on some hosted monitoring functionality, and things like ping time will definitely be included, which is actually a pretty good indicator of fluctuations network quality over a period of time.
