Pin Virtualmin>Virtual server dropdown menu so that when dashboard menu is scrolled active virtual server is always visible

hi guys, yesterday i caused myself about 13 hours worth of work because i made a simple mistake.

I was logged into webmin and using that system administrator to make modifications to some websites in virtualmin (as well as performing some webmin maintenance). As i was also performing webmin maintenance at the same time, i was using an administrator with very high level access.

I had decided to upgrade my webhosting reseller interface to a new whmcs theme and had initially selected that Virtual Server. At some point i got distracted by the need to perform another operation within webmin itself, and upon returning to the Virtualmin tab, did not realise that Virtualmin had changed the server i had previously selected to the default "first Virtualmin>virtual server in dropdown list".

without realising this, and having already scrolled down whilst looking for the operation to uninstall scripts, i could no longer see which virtual server was selected. Eventually my eyes rested on the Virtualmin> Install Scripts and i then focused on rhs dashboard area and went through the uninstall wordpress script process in readyness for a clean new install of my new whmcs website.

it was about 5 minutes later that i realised what i had done...completely deleted the very first virtualmin>virtual server website (which coincidently was also a wordpress one) and of all the websites on this particular server, this website did not have any backups (with the exception of my full webmin server backup made using google cloud snapshots).

Thanks to google clouds somewhat laziness, from what i have read thus far on a post written only 1 month ago, google cloud at present do not have any native functionality to roll back servers using snapshots (only rebuild a new instance using the snapshot as the disk).

So...apart from my own mistake and nightmare yesterday, i have the following request....

CAN WE RECODE VIRTUALMIN TEMPLATE SUCH THAT CURRENTLY SELECTED VIRTUALMIN>VIRTUAL SERVER DROPDOWN IS ALWAYS VISIBLE EVEN WHEN ONE SCROLLS DOWN AND, CHANGE ITS FONT TYPE AND STYLE/HIGHLIGHT TO SOMETHING MORE PROMINENT?

Howdy,

Sorry to hear about your troubles there.

One, I'd definitely recommend going into Backup and Restore -> Scheduled Backups, and setting up a nightly backup schedule.

Two, it also mentions the domain name that's being edited at the top of the "Install Scripts" screen :-)

All that being said, that's not a bad idea, and Joe is talking to Ilia to see how feasible implementing something like that would be. Having that dropdown be visible might be useful in a variety of situations.

Thanks eric,

obviously the mistake was entirely my own and i take full responsibility for that, just one of those "idiot proofing" requests that come around from time to time that would help someone else not have an "idiots bad day" like i had yesterday.

BTW, just to let you in a on secret...i didnt swear at Virtualmin, virtualmin did everything i commanded it to do, but google cloud copped plenty (although as i was at home, i doubt google heard it ^_^ )

i sincerely appreciate your reply.
