how to adjust firewall to allow a new port

Hi

Am a complete newbie at this -

I am struggling to open a port eg 3033 - on webmin - been through the process a few times but I still cant connect to my server via that port (nodejs app)

I am not having this issue when using just a clean ubuntu install or when using something like plesk

Anybody have a few clear straight forward steps to achieve this in webmin

thanks

It depends on which firewall you're using.

You mention Webmin, which doesn't setup a firewall as part of its install. But, the Virtualmin installer does setup a firewall, but which one it uses depends on your OS and version, which we also don't know. So, you've left me guessing. I don't know how to help. ;-)

If you installed Virtualmin using the current version of the installer on a recent distro version, you have a firewalld firewall, and so you need to use the FirewallD Webmin module to allow ports (or the firewall-cmd CLI).
