Install scripts don't create all the MySQL tables

Hi, I installed Virtualmin Pro on a Ubuntu Linux 16.04 server dedicaded. The installing of the software went perfectly. No problems at all. It put all the correct software in place no problem at all.

But one thing is still a problem when my customers try to install scripts to their domain. Most of them fail. I started experimenting with them myself, and it looks like not all the MySQL tables are created, so the script fails when entering information to one that is not there.

Is it because of a system variable of the DB with a to a small value? And if that is the case witch one, and how do I set it to the correct value zo my script installs will work?

I try to figure this out for over a week now with no success.

Hi,

If you have Virtualmin Pro, you can use the issue tracker for quicker support from Joe and Jamie who develop Virtualmin.

Agreed, file a support request -- and there, let us know what error(s) you're seeing during the Install Script installation attempt.

Also, if you're seeing any errors in the Apache log for that domain (in $HOME/logs/error_log), let us know that too.

Thanks!

If you using Pro then go to the authors first, they lack a phone line which is real sad and mickey mouse.

Hopefully they should sort it quickly.

@Welshman,

I'm not sure I support your view on it being "mickey mouse" for the Virtualmin team not having a phone line for support.

There are a few FACTS you should know about support.

  1. The company has 3 staff, 2 of whom maintain the software. Hence it is impractical to offer phone support at this time, as it would slow down development.

  2. The "issue tracker" allows for the issue to be resolved in a timely manner, and tracked so that future questions about the same issue can be resolved quicker.

  3. As a technical solutions provider, I find phone calls slow down the day. This does NOT mean I don't like chatting with people, but for me I find an email, or text based live chat is more suitable, as it allows me to multi-task while addressing a matter. ("work smarter not harder")

Regardless of whether something is posted in the forums, or "issue tracker", Virtualmin has one of the finest support systems in the market. Not only do you have the trio putting in their time to help the community, but you have fellow "users" (like me) contributing towards solving problems on the daily.

Bottom line, "hold your tongue" brother, not having a phone line is really the least you should be concerned about. I've spoken to numerous companies who had phone lines but monkeys on the end. Frankly simply having someone pick up a call doesn't get the job done. At Virtualmin.com you get professional responses from the team who built and maintain the product. They will respond in a timely manner, and often way above typical response times, especially considering there are only 3 official reps in the company at this time.
