Webmin Filemanager editor (when resized) gets permanently stuck in sync with mouse movement (Windows 10 and google chrome)

hi guys, i run windows 10 and google chrome.

Choose webmin>Others>File Manager

right click on a file and choose edit file.

The editor window opens, then click on the border with mouse and change the size of the editor window vertically (either top or bottom). My mouse and the window edge i am resizing become permanently synchronised with each other and i cannot stop the mouse movement from changing the editor window size...thus further editing is impossible (closing window isnt possible by clicking mouse on top rhs of editor window either). Getting out of this situation appears to be almost impossible...the only option is F5 on keyboard to refresh browser window, or right click mouse button and choose reload frame.

It does not appear to me to be a problem if window is resized horizontally...only vertically.

Also, this problem does not exist if one uses the Virtualmin "Edit Web Content" editor...only the Webmin "Filemanager" editor!

Is this a bug or something wrong with my system? (i havent experienced this in any other program before)

That's really weird that it happens when you navigate through Webmin but not through Virtualmin edit web content! It should be the same UI code in both places. The only difference is that it defaults to opening the web content folder in the latter case.

I'll ask Ilia to drop in on this thread. He may have questions about reproducing it (I can't reproduce the problem myself, but I'm on Linux rather than Windows).

Oh, while we're at it, can you try out the new development version of the theme (19.00-RC10 is the current one)? You'll have to manually grab it from here: https://github.com/qooob/authentic-theme/releases and install it using the Install Theme form under Theme Configuration, as this is the new rewrite to be an SPA.

Oh, actually...nevermind on that. Resizing doesn't seem to work at all in the new version! Definitely bug-like.

thanks joe. Its not really any major concern as fortunately one can use the virtualmin filemanager editor as master administrator anyway...and often the window does need resizing. Just an unusual thing that happens to me...i havent tried it in Microsoft edge or firefox etc, only google chrome.

Yeah, there seem to be several bugs in resizing, and I've been working with Ilia to try to help him reproduce all of them. The code in question changes quite a bit in the new 19 version of the theme, as it moves to a single-page app design (finally killing the iframe, and loading all pages via a browser fetch rather than loading the whole page with all assets on every change). This brings massive performance benefits, but it introduces new and exciting bugs of its own. So, it behaves differently in 19, but it's still buggy! But, we're working on it.
