fail2ban is already supported in the upcoming VM6 installer and has Webmin module support. We'd have to implement everything from scratch for something else.
Why do you prefer SSHGuard? I don't see any features listed that fail2ban doesn't have.

I had several issues with fail2ban, so I changed system and now the stability and the performance of my vps are better. I used Ubuntu 14.04 and there f2b is not the best
