In my mail log am getting lots of messages as below, every few minutes or so.
prefork: server reached --max-children setting
I raised the max children setting from the default of 5 to 200 and still happening.
Is this an issue worth bothering about much as I do not want to just keep increasing the setting and of course eventually it would have an impact on the whole servers RAM etc.
Currently the available RAM is not an issue as only around 30% is being used as I have 32GB RAM on a fast server Intel Xeon CPU E5-2620 v3 @ 2.40GHz, 24 cores
I would estimate anything between 50K to 150K emails hit the server per day. I'm using spamc but looking at the running processes there are only a handful using it.
