Protected Dir's user access issue( feature request )

HI Guys,

I am getting requests from customers asking for protected folders ( dir's ) . So I looked at the option for a protected folder as it is offered in the services section of the websites.

This is a nice feature for creating such a protected folder, but it has some flaws.

1. Any existing .htaccess file cannot be altered or adjusted by the system ( also cannot overwrite this ).

2. Only full members of the website can access this.
( not all you would allow here would need an e-mail login )

3. You cannot easilly add names and passwords to this htaccess file.

It would be a better sollution if you were able to indeed include existing users as you do now, but people will also like to add users that do not have an e-mail address on your server or website. For example. If one is to host special access files for customers only, you would be able to add names and passwords for them so they can access the special folder, but such users would not need to have a name@mysite.ext login name.

So a small script that would allow customers to add names and passwords to a protected folder would be very helpfull.
Also this would work even better if you could alter these simply and add access or revoke access.

Hope you can do something with this.

Regards,

Petr
