Had to move several virtual servers from one host to another.
now the Mailserver seems to send mail, as far as i can tell from the logs, but they aren't in the SENT folder. They are just gone. Very strange. Anything i can do? I haven't changed anything from standard settings besides pointing it to a cert. See other thread.
Thanks and best
Howdy,
The server itself doesn't place email in your Sent folder, that's something the email client does.
But you may want to check the email logs in /var/log/maillog or /var/log/mail.log, to see if there's any errors showing up.
Also, I'd be curious if using a different email client makes a difference.

Hi Eric,
this was roundcube, therefore webmailing. This one hasn't changed by migrating it to a different server. The mail leaves correctly, as far as i can tell.
Best
I will check on roundcubes mailing list, perhaps i have to update, might be the old server has had an older php version. I'll check and report here.
Well the email client wasn't roundcube, it has been the one of Virtualmin ;-) So i have to check there.
Even if the email is going out, I'd still recommend looking at the email logs to ensure that no unusual errors are showing up there.
Also, you may want to review the procmail log as well, in /var/log/procmail.log.
But yeah let us know what happens when trying a different email client. If that works, there may just be a setting that needs tweaked.

Hi Eric, the email only leaves, when being sent over virtualmin/usermin. Otherwise there won't be a connection to postfix. I want to encrypt the transport of the email from client to postfix and also the login. By trying different settings i got some results, whereas the first one i am wondering about:
warning: /var/spool/postfix/etc/resolv.conf and /etc/resolv.conf differ
warning: /var/spool/postfix/etc/nsswitch.conf and /etc/nsswitch.conf differ
I found the switch for dovecot to accept ssl connections, so i can get now emails, but with outlook or roundcube i cannot send.
In a Postfix documentation i saw about this:
smtpd_tls_level = may
or, if you want to enforce SSL:
smtpd_tls_level = enforce
But both didn't work, postfix dies when i use the latter one, restarts, dies, restarts etc. When i commented this out, it owuld sstart again. With the tls level may it says
bad command startup - throttling
How can i achieve what i want to do? Postfix confuses me, but i want to get my emails out lol
Thanks and best
