windows vm bsod: bad_system_config_info

ive got a windows vm (kvm) thats been running flawlessly since i put it up a couple months back. after addressing some more pressing matters, im just now getting around to scheduling backups for it.

after reading that i would need to shut the system down first in order to preserve consistency, i created a "scheduled task" in my windows vm to shutdown minutes before the scheduled cloudmin backup was to occur. i tested the windows scheduled task shutdown. then i hit reboot system in the cloudmin panel only to discover my windows vm now boots to a bsod bad_system_config_info 0x00000074 (0x00000003, 0x00000002, 0x80087000, 0xc000014c).

attempting to load "last known good config" produced no change. its not the end of the world if i have to reinstall the system, but i really need the data from my windows vm. PLZ tell me im not screwed.

noticed the following in boot messages:

QEMU waiting for connection on: disconnected:tcp:127.0.0.1:40000,server
WARNING: Image format was not specified for '/kvm/sub.cloudmin.domain.tld.img' and probing guessed raw.
Automatically detecting the format is dangerous for raw images, write operations on block 0 will be restricted.
Specify the 'raw' format explicitly to remove the restrictions.

not sure if its always been there...

crisis averted. mounted my image file to retrieve my data and reinstalled. http://superuser.com/questions/344899/how-can-i-mount-a-disk-image

above boot message remains. must not be anything to worry about.
