Sharing session data among multiple domains

Hi all,

I have one box running top level server domain.com. Then as sub-servers I have dev.domain.com and www.domain2.com

Is there any way I can set things up so that php session variables stored via one these domains is accessible by the others? I have read about custom session handlers, but haven't been able to find any resource which allows me to fully understand how they'd work in my situation within Virtualmin.
