DBI connect failed : Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

On a brand new Virtualmin install (Debian 8), during the Post-Install Wizard > after setting the MySQL Password, I am getting the error:

DBI connect failed : Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

I tried reinstalling, and can replicate the problem. The Post Installation Wizard isn't able to get passed the above issue.

I just tried with a fresh install on Debian 7, and the problem still exists. Has the MySQL package changed that needs to be modified in the installer?

Howdy,

Is there a password already set in this case? The Virtualmin installer is expecting that there isn't a password set there... however, you can go into the MySQL module to tell it what the MySQL password is.

@andreychek; this error still exists to date.. On a brand new centos 7 (digitalocean) I get the above error also. When I went to the mysql module, and entered the password that I set during post installation wizard, I get: "Login failed : Incorrect administration username or password"

Leaving it blank doesn't work either... Ideas?
