I needed to wrap the folder in quotes as there were spaces to make mv work.

The move worked fine, Plex can see the files I moved and when I ssh to the folder and ls I can see the list of file names in that folder.

When I browse to that folder via Filemin, the file names in the folder are all as follows: data/tvshows/foldername/filename

When I browse any other folder it shows just filename

Whenever I try to upload files, it shows the status pop-up, but never the actual status whether its done or not. Pls. advise. Thanks

RealGecko, you are real hero as soon you took this long along awaited challenge. Just one piece of advice. How ugly was old File Manager it did it work. Therefore do not invent bicycle simply repeat it functionality as they were and after you add more improves.

For example the other day I was looking certain file. It was link file. But it was no way for me to find out where this link refers to. Such small simple thing an so much frustration.

When select directory may chmod and chown one directory, all inner files, and all directories recursively. Now we two different dialogs instead one universal and both are not fulfilling

File searching is missing.

And finally paging. The whole idea of separation files in paging is completely sick. RealGecko, you promised to set configuration to break on pages or not. Friendly advice remove page separation for ever.

I personally agree with you on everything. However there is no reason to remove paging. In Authentic Theme 16 +, Filemin will be able to have paging and submit all cheched files regardless of visibility. Besides you can set a very high value, like 1000 and it'll be no problem at all. With version 16, Filemin in Authentic will have extensive notifications and most importantly full keyboard support - so you could use it just as desktop file manager.

Symlinks will be in next release.

Search implemented in 0.9.4.

Pagination can be disabled in module settings.

What version do you use?

Symlinks will be in next release.

Will it be additional tool icon? Don't too many of them already?

Just suggestion to combine few in one. Say [ i ] (info icon). There can be chmod, chown and information for special kind files (Symlink, device, mount, etc.)

Any way existing icons "people" and "gear" is far not idiomatic for chown and chmod. Well "chown" and "people" lightly has association. But "gear" -- "tools", "config", but never "chmod".

Dear guys, I just added to Filemin, one but very important feature - editing files without page reload! Also you can use Ctrl+Enter or Ctrl+Shift+Enter to save/save and close currently edited file.

I didn't make it as separate Authentic version, just added to existing (version 16.00). In case you want to have this feature, when editing files in Filemin, please reinstall the theme by downloading it directly from GitHub and installing over again.

Authentic is still 15.50 or 15.51 in Webmin satus panel on my 4 servers, not requiring any update. How should we get upgraded to 16?

Either manually:

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/qooob/authentic-theme/master/.build/au...

Or going to Authentic Theme Settings (type it in the search) and enabling Check for Authentic Theme updates.

Afterwards, go to System Information page and if you don't see the update message click green refresh button.

Worked?

Thanks! search returns nothing, but there is a settings icon near Them settings. It seems that the 15.50/15.51 update changed the default update notification settings to NO.

In my case, it changed it on 4 different servers on update, no on new installs. (I am addict to Authentic since a couple of months!)

Thanks a lot for this great work that make beloved Webmin/Virtualmin even more effective

Hi guys,

Thanks for the great file manager. But I have a question, when I installed this with Grant access only to users and groups:root, my other virtual domain users (login through Usermin) could not see the Filemin File Manager. If I installed this with Grant access to all Webmin users, then the virtual domain users can see the module but will have full access to the Linux file system. Am I missing anything?

Security behavior changed in latest version, I'm not really happy with this, but that was done to be more close to the original FM's security model.

So now every user works as root by default and so is able to see whole FS. To change this you can either create group that is restricted to work as UNIX user, or you can change default ACL option in /usr/share/webmin/filemin/defaultacl, make sure that work_as_root line is not defined or =0.

Hi RealGecko,

Thank you very much for your great software and advice. Will test it out with chaning the default ACL option.

Hi RealGecko,

It works great with all virtual domain users and they are all limited to their $home folders after making the change. Thank you very much.

Hello a question: filemin is available only on webmin/virtualmin administrators by default. How to enable to all virtual server administrators/users?

Sat, 10/03/2015 - 16:00 (Reply to #226)
RealGecko

Go to Virtualmin - System Settings - Virtualmin Configuration and in Server Administrator Permissions section change Extra Webmin modules for server administrators option, add filemin there (either manually or with cool module selector popup).

PS: Note that it will be accessible to Server Administrators in Webmin menu not Virtualmin. I'll fix that issue in next release.

RealGecko

WARNING! ACHTUNG! ALARM ALARM!!! Webmin 1.770 is out! Filemin is now in da core. No more need to manually install.

NOTE!!! Fresh installation makes all users able to access Filemin WORK AS ROOT AND SEE WHOLE FILESYSTEM. PERFORM SECURITY TIGHTENING AFTER UPGRADE AND FRESH INSTALLATION.

Hello .. how to tightening the filemin module for show only the vserver home? There is some conf to do somewhere?

Sun, 10/04/2015 - 16:07 (Reply to #229)
RealGecko

Go to Webmin - Webmin Users and create new group here, for example Fileminoids. Click on newly created group and note Available Webmin Modules section. Under Others subsection you'll see File Manager link, click on it. You'll see Filemin security options. Put $HOME inside Allowed Paths and check Same as Webmin login in Access files as Unix user.

Now make every new user part of that group. TADAAAA! You're happy :)))))

Sun, 10/04/2015 - 17:04 (Reply to #230)
silenx

Ok, but it will be apply only on new users?

Sun, 10/04/2015 - 17:10 (Reply to #231)
RealGecko

On every user in that group, unless overrided individually on per user basis.

Webmin's security model for any module is like this user settings > group settings > defaultacl

If no settings are setup for any particular user, then defaltacl is used, that gives everyone ROOT permissions in case of Filemin.

If settings are done for group user is a member of, then group settings will override defaultacl.

If settings are set for user, then it overrides group's settings.

Sun, 10/04/2015 - 17:11 (Reply to #232)
silenx

Ah ok, users must be associated manually to that group... because i followed your instructions but nothing was changed

Sun, 10/04/2015 - 17:15 (Reply to #233)
RealGecko

Changing defaultacl is fast decision, but it may be overwritten after update. So no go.

Setting options on per user basis is boring - you create user, you change settings, blah blah blah.

Setting up group is easy - you set up permissions once and then simply add desired users to that group and voila, everything is secure and fast :)

Ok .. i'm searching for that .. not with great results ... where's to set up group <--> user association?

Sun, 10/04/2015 - 17:26 (Reply to #235)

Webmin - Webmin Users, you'll see the list of users, click Select All and right below there is a button Add to group.

Of course, i tryed with two different browser and two different theme ( authentic, the default, and the framed gray ).

EDITED: [DELETE USERS] and [ADD TO GROUP BUTTON:] seems to have the same href destination.

My system is: Debian 8.2 vps with :
Webmin version 1.760
Virtualmin version 4.18

I just installed the update to 1.770 and Filemin just replaced the Java File Manager. I never used before JFM because was ugly as interface. I appreciate all for your dedicated work.

Does Filemin already replaces File Manager in Webmin 1.770? It might be prematurate, I think both should stay, at least for some time. I appreciate very much Filemin, but personnally still prefer File manager for some functions. Specifically, I miss the 2 windows mode

Edit: I deared to upgrade Webmin, The old Java file manager is sill here :) Thanks

The new web based filemin is nice but the search function is a little week :-(

I'd like to search by files or directory, Filenames and content, etc.... (just like the old java one).

Is it possible to use the OLD JAVA version ? I can not find How start it :-(

Thank you

Well done Sir. A file manager in Webmin is a very handy thing indeed. The Java version served well but was a pain at times. Filemin is a big improvement especially in the visual dept. Well thought out layout and easy to use. Thank you.
