No updates showing

Had this problem for a few months on a server, VM system info page is not showing updates.

A fresh install would sort it but the client is reluctant, as they can be at times.

Any ideas how to fix this without a fresh install?

I can see them via webmin... system... etc but not showing on main VM info.

This has come right after the recent VM update. The mind boggles.
