PHP not working

I just installed virtualmin but pages that are in PHP are not working, all I see is the source codes on my website. I uploaded my php files with WinSCP as root user to the public_html folder and its not working. do I need to install PHP separately or something? can you help me fix this please?

What distro/version are you using?

And what is the output of the command "php -v"?
