Virtualmin not Updating

My Ubuntu Linux 10.04.1 system is not detecting any updates. This server was originally setup back in 2007, way before the "install.sh" script existed. Virtualmin was installed the old fashion way by using the virtual-server-xxxx.gpl.wbm.gz module file.

I managed to manually update it to 4.03 by re-installing the module from http://download.webmin.com/download/virtualmin/virtual-server-4.03.gpl.w.... It didn't seem to break anything.

What must I do so that updates can be installed the correct way?
