Protected Web Directory - unprotecting selected directory removed all folders/files

Using Webmin I added a web directory to protect in an incorrect place:
/home/mydomain/domains/test.mydomain.com/ (as opposed to /home/mydomain/domains/test.mydomain.com/public_html).

I then removed this by selecting the domain and clicking 'Unprotect selected directory' to change this.

This removed the following folder: /home/mydomain/domains/test.mydomain.com/public_html
