I have a virtual server which has about 30 aliases, each of which has its DNS zone enabled.
I just went through all 30 aliases and configured the DNS setup how I wanted it. Then, I had cause to make one small change to the DNS of the master server. It has overwritten the DNS of all the aliases with the template records which are made on creation.
I've been able to recreate the problem again, by editing the DNS of an alias - everything's fine - then adding one record to the master - all the aliases overwritten.
I did this using the "DNS records" section in Virtualmin, and when I make the changes through the BIND module in Webmin, this problem does not occur. Is this a bug or do I have a setting wrong somewhere?
This would seem to not be a bug, but intentional: Alias servers are SUPPOSED to share everything (except mail users since a few Virtualmin versions) with the master. :) If you need individual DNS records, you should create a subserver instead of an alias.
It would rather seem confusing here that it is possible to make changes to the alias' DNS zone.
