Hello everyone.
I have a small physical server that has cPanel that hosts less than 15 domains.
I would like to move off cPanel and go with Virtualmin but I have a couple of questions.
1.) What would be the best way to to upgrade?
I'm considering renting a small vps for a short time, setting up VirtualMin on that, and migrating the domains one at a time to the VPS, then when everything is converted and tested I would wipe out my physical server, setup virtualmin, and move everything back.
Is there a better way to do this?
2.) Will my users email addresses and email passwords be converted?
Howdy,
You'd want to have a server somewhere running Virtualmin... and from there, you could import your cPanel backups.
You could do them one at a time, or all at once, that's up to you.
Once you have this other server running with all your domains -- if you wanted to migrate them back to your current server, you could indeed format your current server, install Virtualmin, then migrate them there.
It should import your email addresses and passwords -- just make sure you setup the email format you want first in System Settings -> Server Templates -> Default -> Mail for Domain -> Username Format.
