The SSL cert purchased was for www.mydomain.com. Server name, under the IP:443 container, is mydomain.com.
If I try to Virtualmin>Server Configuration>Change Domain Name to add the www before the domain name I get "Failed to change domain name : The domain name does not need to have www at the start"
How do I keep this warning from showing up in my Apache files?
RSA server certificate CommonName (CN) 'www.mydomain.com' does NOT match server name
Is manually editing httpd.conf a solution? Is that the only solution?
Thanks
Hi,
Most SSL issuers will issue a certificate which will work on both "domain.com" and "www.domain.com" automatically, I'd suggest consulting the certificate issuer to make sure you have the right files installed and/or their policy surrounding the above stated.

I don't want to pay for a wildcard certificate. I would like to avoid this warning OR change the domain in virtualmin and keep using basic certificates.
thanks
Hi,
Just to clarify, when purchasing a "basic" SSL Certificate, it should work on both "www.domain.com" and "domain.com" by default. While wildcard certificates work in a similar manner, providers give you the above at no extra cost, meaning you are NOT buying a wildcard but it WILL work on both version of the domain by default.

yes, that's correct, but I still get the CommonName warning...
Hi,
Can I get your domain name so I can investigate the error.
