How to limit ftp users for subservers

I can't seem to figure out how to limit a ftp subserver user to their own files. Everything I try doesn't do what I'm trying:

When a subserver user logs in via ftp client, they are able to access and edit files above their own home directory. This is not good... how to fix? :)
