Restore backup (emails in /homes but not emails users)

Hi, I did restore a backup, and some content was migrated,

When using restore backup:

  • content of public_html : DONE
  • DNS records were imported.
  • MySql content : DONE (but was manually imported from /.backups/mysql.gz)
  • Emails : (all content is inside /homes but were not created users in email users.)

Another questions:

  • Why restore backup doens't update all info needed?
  • Why doesn't add content of mysql dtatabase?
  • Why doesn't create emails users?

  • What more is not done when restore'?

Thanks !!

Howdy,

When performing a full backup with all features enabled -- it's possible to copy that backup file to another server, import it, and you can expect that all features would work.

If that's not what you're seeing -- then something is awry :-)

One thing you may want to double-check is just to make sure that in your full backup, that it's really setup to perform a backup of all features. If the " Mail/FTP users and mail aliases" feature wasn't enabled (which it should be by default), that could cause what you're seeing.

Same with the restore though, you'd want to make sure it's set to restore all the features during the restore process.

Also, during both the backup and the restore -- do you see any errors in any of the output?
