[SOLVED] Only the first Virtual Server Works.

So i have 3 different websites. I bought the domains at Go Daddy. The first Virtual server works OK. I redirect my domain to my public ip with masking so, Go Daddy redirects :

For the siteA: http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/siteAfolder , and it works, all fine.

But when i create more Virtual Servers, none of them will work , all i get is "The requested URL was not found on the server"

http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/siteBfolder "The requested URL was not found on the server" http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/siteCfolder "The requested URL was not found on the server"

Im redirecting from Go Daddy to my external IP address. So xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx stands for it.

When i run the Virtualmin check, all is good, 0 problems. "Your system is rdy to run Virtualmin" Help!

Could you post a screenshot of your System Settings -> Virtualmin Config -> Network Settings screen?

I suspect there's an issue in there somewhere, and seeing how that looks should help us get that fixed up.

OK, so i did this.

SITEA virtual Server.

/home/siteA/public_html/siteAfiles <==== the files for SiteA are going into that folder.

now..if i put the other sites INSIDE that folder like this:

And all ll of them work... not supossed to be that way i know. Defeats the purpose of having virtual servers in webmin.

What i'm doing wrong?

Hmm, I may not have read your first post well enough the first time through. Though I may also be slightly confused :-)

You said that you were re-directing from GoDaddy to your current server -- are you saying that the redirects are all going to your IP address (and not redirecting to a domain name)?

And if that's the case -- do you just have that one public IP address?

Yes, thats correct, i only have 1 public IP. You "sounded" like im doing things terribly wrong =( .

I do have a very similar problem. No matter how many virtual servers i create only the first one works. I find the documentation a bit confusing . Im almost positive that i did something wrong. The documentation says to look at some figures (cant see any) where i guess the procedure is better explained or easier to understand. Dont think its my brrowsers fault. So. Being WEBMIN such a popular hosting panel it should have a better documentation. Been looking so many different sites trying to get webmin to work. So far its been kind of frustrating. AND PLEASE. I read that someone else had the same problem and fixed it but forgot to marked as SOLVED and to share the solution.

cheapkb, that just means that you can only have one Virtual Server. So what you setup will work great the way it's currently setup if you don't need more than one Virtual Server.

And if one day, you decide that you want to have multiple Virtual Servers -- you can do that by assigning your domain names to your server itself (rather than redirecting to the IP address).

Thank much for taking the time to read my "newbiness". Yeah, this setup i have is basically for learning and trying things. Ill get that second IP sometime next week.

Thank you much again.

Now i see it. So a single public ip = 1 virtual server but i can put in that host many sites all i have to do is to redirect godaddy to my ip/folder for that site.

Joe's picture

So a single public ip = 1 virtual server

No, that's not accurate. A single public IP can host any number of virtual servers...but, you should not try to proxy through GoDaddy or redirect from GoDaddy to do so. You should configure the name to point directly to your IP address (no redirection, no proxying, just correctly configured DNS).

Thanks again Eric.
