Howdy,

Well, I see a lot of instances of that specific error on Google... you may want to try reviewing some of the solutions people mentioned to that issue.

However, one thing you may want to do is verify that your DNS is working.

For example, if you log into your server and run "host google.com", does it return a series of IP addresses? Or do you get an error?

Oh, and another thing to try to make sure there's no configuration errors would be to log into Virtualmin, and go into System Settings -> Re-Check Config.

When I type host stipka.com I get

stipka.com has address 89.205.123.186
;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached

And for host ‘host -t ns stipka.com ’ I get

stipka.com name server stipka.

Also when I restart the apace I get this

* Restarting web server apache2                    apache2: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 127.0.1.1 for ServerName
[Wed Aug 24 21:35:11 2011] [warn] NameVirtualHost 192.168.1.3:80 has no VirtualHosts

[Wed Aug 24 21:35:12 2011] [warn] NameVirtualHost 192.168.1.3:80 has no VirtualHosts’
server stipka.

I set the dns record as was written in https://www.virtualmin.com/documentation/dns/faq I have set up name servers on godaddy for stipka.com to have ns1.stipka.com and ns2.stipka.com
When I tire http://pingability.com/zoneinfo.jsp?domain=stipka.com t give me a lot of error also when I tray to register another domain in my country with .mk domain the domain registrant says:

Do I need 2 different ip to setup the name servers? Which are set at godaddy whit the domain stipka.com because now the 2 of them are on the same ip? And what should I do go get it the server proper running to host my .mk (Macedonian) domain and told the domain giver to point to my server? I'm new at this so help would be much appreciated.

Tanks a lot.

Hi Sid

If you've set up your nameservers with GoDaddy pointing to the same IP, then you'll need to check that you have A records set up in Bind that tell the world where your 2 nameservers reside.

At present if I DiG your ns1 I get a response that resolves to 89.205.123.186, but ns2 does not resolve at all.

Go to Webmin > Servers > Bind DNS Server and then click on your stipka.com domain in the table. You will see an A record for ns1.stipka.com but not one for ns2 - simply create a new A record for ns2 with the same details as ns1 and click on save. After this, click the 'Apply Configuration' link in the top right hand corner to restart BIND.

This configuration may take a while to come into play as you have a 10 hour Time To Live on your DNS records at present.

Once all this is done the 2 nameservers are properly resolving, you can use these nameservers with your .mk domain by entering them with your registrar. After the propagation period, your server will be the authority for that domain and your virtualmin server settings will take effect.

Hope this helps.

I setup my host from scratch and now it's ok with the dns lockup. But I still get the 'WP HTTP Error: name lookup timed out' I try the advice from wp people and i still get the same error and wp is very slow and now even virtualmin is slowing down. After this i did a little digging and I found that this is due to the server configuration. That it need to much time to do dns lookup also some one mention that you need to have 'php http extension' install.

I have this packages install 'php5-common php5-cli php5-mysql php5-gd php5-curl php5-mcrypt'. my site with wp is vidik.mk

Tanks a lot

Hi Sid

I've just visited your vidik.mk site and it seems to be loading fine for me - no problems there. Could you provide a little more info about the errors you are receiving?

When did you make the dns changes? Perhaps cached dns records are causing issues for you...

Before instaling Core Control for wp and disabling cURL from the module I cant install modules but after i disable cURL i can install modules. When i run Test Transport for Curl i get this error 'An Error has occured: name lookup timed out'.

I test if the curl is installed and working with different script and it's ok no problem with the curl.
