SOLVED - Noob Q about BIND

Do I need it? I have a registrar that I used to change all the nameserver records and point to my VPS. I have many sites hosted virtually on the VPS. What exactly does bind do? it says it adds ftp. etc records, is that not an A record at the registrar?
