CenOS 5.6 with PostFix/Dovecot basic installation of VirtualMin. Everything is updated.
Some people who are sending mail to our "receivingdomain.com" server occasionally get this message:
The original message was received at Mon, 4 Jul 2011 22:49:05 -0800 (AKDT) from sendingdomain.com [209.193.48.50]
----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors ----- someguy@receivingdomain.com (reason: 552 5.3.4 Message size exceeds fixed limit)
----- Transcript of session follows ----- ... while talking to receivingdomain.com.:
MAIL From:person@lenorman.com SIZE=11951125 <<< 552 5.3.4 Message size exceeds fixed limit 554 5.0.0 Service unavailable
Any ideas? Thanks!
Howdy,
That error sounds like users are trying to send your server emails that are larger than it's configured to accept.
You can see what the current limit is by running this command:
postconf | grep message_size_limit
If you'd like to increase the limit, you can go into Webmin -> Servers -> Postfix -> General Resource Control, and set "Max size of a message" to your desired message size (in bytes).
So, to set it to 25MB, you'd use the parameter "25000000".
