Hello,
Background info:
I have a cpanel linux box running mysql 5.0.9-community and backed up the entire box (6.8 gig) to a cpanel backup. The file is now on my box (running WebMin & Virtualmin) in the /root/ directory. The webmin/virtualmin box is running a 5.0.7 iteration of mysql. I had cpanel auto SCP the backup (a .tar.gz file) to the box. Both the file I can download direct from my cpanel & the one in /root are the same file size. This backup contains about 50 domains and 50 different mysql databases.
Problem:
Anyways, when I use virtualmin to try an migrate the cpanel backup, the migrate form throws this error:
Validating migration file .. .. validation failed : Not a cPanel tar.gz file : Un-archive command failed : /bin/tar: backup-7.2.2011_21-57-12_roulett8/homedir.tar: Wrote only 9216 of 10240 bytes /bin/tar: Skipping to next header /bin/tar: backup-7.2.2011_21-57-12_roulett8/logs/rudesterroulette.1stwebsiteurl.com-bytes_log: Wrote only 8192 of 10240 bytes /bin/tar: Skipping to next header...
and goes on to do this for a ton of output, before failing.
Any suggestions?
actually, nvm, I think I figured it out-- appears that there isn't enough space on the disk for the backup and all the data!
Howdy,
Hmm, one thing you may want to try is to see if using individual backups for each cPanel account helps. It's possible that using just one file for all the accounts is confusing it.
The only other idea is that you may want to make sure that, if your /tmp folder is on a separate partition, that it has plenty of space. By default, that's where Virtualmin would attempt to untar the backup archive.

hmm.. thing is, I have all domains under 1 cpanel account user. is there a way to take just individual domains off in this fashion?
Well, I had typed all that out before reading that you found a disk space issue.
Once you get the disk space sorted out -- try porting that single archive you have again, it'll probably work just fine. If it doesn't, we can discuss some troubleshooting options then :-)

Please I am having this same problem - please may I know how this was resolved - I have more than enough space on my PC
