Hi, I'm new to these forums and Virtualmin in general, and I'm having an issue with the backup features.
I started working with my current employer a couple months ago, and they use Virtualmin. We have 2 servers - Server1, Server2.
Both are running Virtualmin:
- Server1 is running Virtualmin 3.642.gpl. *I've tried to upgrade this one to match Server2, but it keeps saying that it has been upgraded to the most current version.
- Server2 is running Virtualmin 3.82.gpl.
The issue is that disk space goes up to 100% as soon as 2.5 days of backups are created. At that point, email stops flowing and things stop working. What we want to do as a quick temp solution is to get it to automatically delete backups after 1 day so we can keep the disk space issue down.
This quick fix is working just fine on Server2, and the difference between the two (aside from the Virtualmin versioin) is that Server2 is storing its backups remotely and Server1 is hosting them locally.
We have it set to send out an email every morning indicating that a backup has been run.
The end of Server2's email has the following information:25 servers backed up successfully, 0 had errors. 6 Virtualmin configuration settings backed up successfully. Deleting backups older than 1 days .. Deleting file /backups/webhost3.impalanetworks.com/2010-12-23 via SSH, which is 1 days old .. .. deleted 1024 bytes.
Deleting file /backups/webhost3.impalanetworks.com/2010-12-23.info via SSH, which is 1 days old .. .. deleted 305 bytes.
.. deleted 2 old backups At the end of Server1's email, there is the following information:55 servers backed up successfully, 0 had errors. 5 Virtualmin configuration settings backed up successfully. Deleting backups older than 1 days .. .. no backups to delete were found
Backup is complete. Final size was 6.30 kB. Total backup time was 40 minutes, 23 seconds.Actual backup sizes for Server1 is ~8.1GB after compression. Actual backup sizes for Server2 is ~2GB.
My question is thus: Server1 doesn't appear to be deleting any backups, as you can see from the resulting email, "... no backups to delete were found". I've adjusted various settings within Virtualmin and gotten the same results each time. I need to be able to resolve this so that it is automatically deleting backups older than 1 day, but it's not finding any.
Thank you for your time!
Ian
Is there anyone that has any information on a resolution to this?
