Hi,
I've been using Virtualmin for a few years now and it's great. Thanks for working on a great product.
Recently, I've run into a odd problem that I could use some help with. For one of my virtual servers, it seems that only yesterday the passwords for email accounts will no longer be displayed under user account information. Whenever a password is set through virtualmin, it will appear for a while and then magically disappear... I've tried tracking things down and monitored the corresponding file under/etc/webmin/virtual-servers/plainpass/ and for some reason that file (after being updated with the password) will get reverted back to an older version. The result is that the password can no longer be displayed through Virtualmin even though it is still possible to login with that password for that account. If i change multiple users, they appear to be fine for a while, then they all get reverted back to some older point in time.
I've been trying to catch the process that's reverting the changes, but to no avail. I'd appreciate any pointers or help to try to get to the bottom of this.
Cheers.
Whoa, that sounds odd. :) I suppose only the developers can shed some light on why Virtualmin would do something like that. Short of there being some Cron job at work that restores some backup regularly. ;)
But I might give you some hint too: You can turn on "Debug logging" in Webmin's System Configuration (Webmin -> Webmin Configuration -> Cute ladybug ;) ), having it among other things record all file access events, complete with time and culprit and all. :)
Attention though: when you turn on all that's there to log, the file will grow large quickly! Check and delete it regularly.
