Cloudmin 4.7 released

Cloudmin version 4.7 is now available for download from our YUM and APT repositories. Existing users should see a message on the Cloudmin Information page after logging in, prompting to upgrade to the new release.

This update contains several major new features, including :

  • Xen and KVM instances can now be created empty, and configured to boot from an installation CD instead of using a Cloudmin image. This allows any operating system to be installed, and makes use of HVM mode for Xen. CDs can come from either a file on the host system, or a Cloudmin image in ISO format.
  • Added the Change Boot Method page for selecting if a paravirtualized Xen instance uses its own kernel or the kernel from the host system. For KVM and HVM Xen instances, you can select which device they boot from (hard disk or CD-ROM drive).
  • All disk size and available memory fields on the Create System form now have selectable units, instead of forcing you to convert all sizes to MB.
  • The media type for virtual disks on KVM and Xen systems can now be specified on the Add Disk page, which allows you to add an ISO image as a CD-ROM drive on the virtual system. The same can be done using the create-disk API command.
  • All command line arguments from imported KVM instances are now preserved, and will be re-used when the instance is started by Cloudmin.
  • Virtual disks identified by labels on KVM and Citrix Xen systems now have their mount points properly detected.
  • Added a system notes text box to the Edit System page.
  • Added options to the Virtual Server Replication page to copy all domains from a source system to destinations, and to delete from destinations any domains that are not on the source.
  • The IP address that Cloudmin uses to connect to a system via ping, SSH or Webmin can now be changed on the Edit System page, and via the modify-system API command.
  • Xen and KVM virtual systems can now have their disks checked before booting, to reveal and fix filesystem corruption that might otherwise interrupt the boot process.

As always, please report any problems you encounter using this new version via the support issue tracker.
