Copying records in DNS domain .. domain not found?

Hi somebody there to help! :)

I looked allready for a solution but I can't find one. Maybe somebody can help me.

DNS is managed on another server where all domains are registered

On the Server with Virtualmin ist the web content of the Clients.

When I make a Virtualmin Backup I get on some Virtual Server this error.

Copying records in DNS domain.. domain not found!

I found out that some Virtual Server have under Virtualmin > System > DNS Domain In these DNS no records are available, everything is on 0 When I try to delete Zone I get HTTP 500 Error

The domains with no DNS don't have problems.

How can I delete these zones

Howdy,

If your sure the DNS is being hosted elsewhere for this domain -- what you can do is disable the DNS feature for it within Virtualmin.

To do that, you can go into Edit Virtual Server.

If you're still having trouble after disabling the DNS feature for this Virtual Server, try going into System Settings -> Re-Check Config, and see if it mentions any problems that it sees.

Hello Eric,

Here is the history: https://www.virtualmin.com/node/13196

I did the following:

Settings -> Re-Check Config. Here a part of the validation report.

domain1.de

All features OK

domain2.de

All features OK

domain3.net

All features OK

sub.domain3.eu

All features OK

domain4.de

All features OK

domain5.de

BIND DNS domain : No DNS zone found for domain domain5.de

domain6.de

BIND DNS domain : No DNS zone found for domain domain6.de.

I don't know what to do ??

Can you help?

Sounds like the DNS zone for a few of your domains had been deleted -- perhaps done outside of Virtualmin?

For those domains, you may want to go into "Edit Virtual Server", and disable the DNS feature.

Hi Eric,

I try to explain:

1e Server : DNS and Domain management 2e Server : Web content of costumers (Webmin/Virtualmin)

Like you said in https://www.virtualmin.com/node/13196 I disabled BIND and disabled "DNS domain enabled?" After That I deleted the DNS-Zone in Virtualmin > Virtual Sersver > Services > DNS Domain > Delete Zone. Is that OK?

If yes: when I try to "delete Zone" I get HTTP 500 error on some domains When I backup these domains with this error I get the backup error: Copying records in DNS domain .. .. domain not found!

When I backup the domains that have no DNS-Zone, I have no problem backing it up.

When I try to disable BIND in Virtualmin > System Settings > Features and Plugins > BIND DNS domain I get following error: Failed to save enabled features : The feature BIND DNS domain cannot be disabled, as it is used by the following virtual servers :

I appreciate your help :)

Hello virtualmin community!

I had same situation, but I 've not yet configured my virtualmin server. I don't know what is the best aproach for this situation, anyhow

I have an internet connection with dinamic ip, I know what are the issues when try to host websites behind a dinamic ip, but for now I want to host my real domain and if in the future all goes well I will take an static ip.

In normal situation virtualmin it is directly connected to the internet, with two network card with two static ip's one for hosting and one for dns server, but i all tutorials read from internet when he comes the issue about hosting everybody recomends 2 dns server : ns1.domain.tld location A and ns2.doamin.tld location B Then you put these nameserver at namserver section at your registrar That situation, to have your own namserver isn't cost efectiv, and therefore I have to by an dns service and use their dns server's. That's one dilemas i am facing Second is to se dedicated firewall for internet connection, because as sysadmin I put my webserver at my work, I so I have a vitualmin behind a NAT-ed network but that is another story and problably another post.

Thanq you and apologize for my bad english.
