Virtualmin takes long time to show up

I've had this problem recently, where if I want to open Virtualmin in the web browser, it will take afwully long 6 seconds to show up the login screen. It works fine once it's been first loaded, but I think that huge first delay is rather new. Any ideas what could be the cause? CPU load is low, Virtualmin is 3.76 pro.

if you ping your site, does it have an increased latency?
there might not be anything wrong with the server, but with your connection to it.

the connection to the server is ok, everything works fast: apache, ftp, etc... just the webmin server reacts slowly when you first type the url in the browser. once it's loaded, i can login and use virtualmin at normal speeds.
