postfix can't create user output file

Hi all !

I have the latest virtuamin installed and all works fine many days but today I have this error message with many accounts:

The domain is urunet.com.ar

              The mail system

martin-urunet.com.ar@server2.urunet.com.ar (expanded from martin@urunet.com.ar): can't create user output file

Looks like postfix can't expand the username with - to the username with @.

my /etc/postfix/virtual file looks correct:

urunet@urunet.com.ar urunet urunet.com.ar urunet.com.ar hostmaster@urunet.com.ar urunet@urunet.com.ar webmaster@urunet.com.ar urunet@urunet.com.ar postmaster@urunet.com.ar urunet@urunet.com.ar abuse@urunet.com.ar urunet@urunet.com.ar correo@urunet.com.ar correo-urunet.com.ar martin@urunet.com.ar martin-urunet.com.ar

the virtual.db file looks good to:

-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 3428 ene 6 19:39 virtual -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 12288 ene 6 19:39 virtual.db

the main file:

myhostname = server2.urunet.com.ar

myhostname = host5.190-228-106.telecom.net.ar

smtpd_banner = $myhostname ESMTP $mail_name (Debian/GNU) biff = no

appending .domain is the MUA's job.

append_dot_mydomain = no

Uncomment the next line to generate "delayed mail" warnings delay_warning_time = 4h

readme_directory = no

the mail.log (I'm using debian lenny):

any hint ? Please I need help to solve this error quickly.

Thanks in advance.

"can't create user output file"

whenever I see this on my box, it means the users mailbox is full. either empty it or use a bigger quota

I agree with Ronald, it sounds like a quota problem. You can go into Edit Mail and FTP users, and view/modify the quota for your users.

thanks both your the help !

No, I think if not a quota issue:

the example account have 50M quota and are using only 1.6M

server2:/home/urunet/homes# repquota / | grep martin martin@urunet.com.ar -- 1592 204800 204800 144 0 0

All virtual server have 10G quota and are using only 2%.

the martin@urunet.com.ar have this setup:

server2:/home/urunet/homes# ls -lR martin/ martin/: total 4 drwx------ 12 martin@urunet.com.ar urunet 4096 ene 14 14:54 Maildir

It's old, but as there was no response:

I had the same problem, "can't create user output file" for some, but not all virtual domains. First I did a reboot, that didn't help. Then I did:

webmin > System > Log File Rotation > Force Log Rotation

After that email receiving was normal. Maybe one of the logs got too big.
