Connection timed out (port 25), Help would be greatly appreciated.

Fresh install of Virtualmin on Centos 5.4, everything looked to be working perfectly, till I tried to send an email and it never arrived

I checked the log and it's full of errors like this

Nov 18 23:33:33 server1 postfix/smtp[26271]: connect to alt2.gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com[209.85.218.6]: Connection timed out (port 25) Nov 18 23:34:03 server1 postfix/smtp[26278]: connect to mx3.hotmail.com[65.55.92.152]: Connection timed out (port 25) Nov 18 23:34:03 server1 postfix/smtp[26279]: connect to mx3.hotmail.com[65.54.188.110]: Connection timed out (port 25) Nov 18 23:34:03 server1 postfix/smtp[26280]: connect to mx2.hotmail.com[65.55.92.184]: Connection timed out (port 25) Nov 18 23:34:03 server1 postfix/smtp[26283]: connect to mx3.hotmail.com[65.54.188.110]: Connection timed out (port 25) Nov 18 23:34:03 server1 postfix/smtp[26284]: connect to mx1.hotmail.com[65.55.92.136]: Connection timed out (port 25)

I've tried searching the internet, but I can't find anything useful about fixing or even diagnosing this The firewall is set to allow outgoing traffic on port 25 I can receive mail aok, just not send

Help, please? heh

Howdy Adam, is your ISP blocking port 25? This is the first thing to check, IMHO. If you are testing from a residential connection, it is highly probable that port 25 will be blocked or restricted. Joe

Thanks Boss, no, port 25 is open

It's a dedicated server, with dedicated IP, with OVH.co.uk

I can telnet to the servers using telnet XXX 25 and it seems to connect ok.

For example

telnet mx2.hotmail.com 25

Trying 65.55.37.104...

Connected to mx2.hotmail.com (65.55.37.104).
