I am trying to backup over ssh, I get this error:
Starting backup of 86 domains to colobackup on SSH server xx.xx.xxx.xxx ..
Failed to connect to SSH server : virtualmin_49724@xx.xx.xxx.xxx's password: Permission denied, please try again. virtualmin_49724@xx.xx.xxx.xxx's password: Permission denied, please try again. virtualmin_49724@xx.xx.xxx.xxx's password: Permission denied (publickey, password). lost connection
Backup failed! See the progress output above for the reason why.
Naturally I would assume that it would be a password or rights issue right? however using scp manually I am able to connect to the destination and copy files without issue, the permissions at the remote side are correct. where are logfiles stored, or wheres the backup script stored? I need to find out what exactly its doing so I can correct the issue.
thanks
It looks like a username or password issue from the above error.
What I would do is:
Double-check that both the username and password are correct
Look on the backup server in the logs -- either /var/log/secure or /var/log/auth.log, depending on your distro -- and look for any failure message in them.
On the Virtualmin server, look in /var/webmin/miniserv.error, and see if anything stands out.
Let us know what you see in there... thanks!

Any chance we can resurrect this old post, having the same exact problem.
