Heirarchy of sub-servers ??

I have a strange issue on my mew Virtualmin server. I created a sub-domain on an existing domain and unless when I created I selected it to be “under” the main domain it appears separately in list of domains managed by server (top left). The sub-domain was well created in the domain account but doesn’t show up as such in Virtualmin list of servers. I checked settings of Virtualmin but found nothing relevant ! I tried to create a second sub-server under an other top domain and it's exactly the same :(

Webmin: 1.941 Virtualmin: 6.08-2 Pro Ubuntu 18.04.4 (amd64)

Thanks for contacting us.

We're sorry to hear that you're having a problem when creating a sub-domain.

Perhaps, the reason why it ended up to be a separate domain (virtual server), is because you forgot to click on the link called "Sub-server of" upon domain creation time? When you click on the link "Create Virtual Server" from navigation menu, you are taken to the creation form. At the very top, there is a row of buttons, which enables you to choose the type of newly creating virtual server.

I must mention, that having separate virtual server almost always better security wise.

Hi Ilia

Thanks for your answer and I understand but I'm pretty sure to have done it right. I wanted to be sure if I did a mistake or bug in system. I then created an other sub-domain as test on an existing domain and it did exactly the same, it's listed among all top domains and not under its top domain :( Bug ? Needs some logs or something to investigate ? The strange thing is that Virtualmin takes well into account that main domain exists already and automatically creates well these sub-domains in same account than main domain ! Is there a way to get them listed correctly without having to destroy the sub-domain ?

Can you just attach a screenshot of create domain page, fully filled but right before you hit Create Server button?

Screen capture just before validating it

It looks correct.

What is the output of the Create Virtual Server operation? Can you make another screenshot of opened dropdown menu (in the navigation menu, on the top left of the screen, where the list of available virtual servers is), after creating new domain?

Here it is: https://group.vincen.org/index.php/s/7CRywgfCtddH2dr You car see the cloud.domedia.net sub server that doesn't appear under domedia.net main domain but as separate virtual host but Virtualmin has well created the sub-server with same user account as domain.net virtual server ;)

Oh, that's what the problem! Solution is easy, just check Virtualmin Configuration page:

Thanks a lot for it and I din't think it was that as french translations of these options is just completely wrong and no-sense ! So now I have changed settings and it works as expected with hierarchy ;) How can I get that completely wrong translation updated ? as I never participated in translations work for Virtualmin (used to do it for some other open source projects but would be happy to help for Virtualmin to be more french friendly ;)
