Login Issues

There are 4 ways that I log in to my Ubuntu server with Webmin. 1)Digital Ocean console, 2)SSH, 3)Cockpit, 4)Webmin/Virtualmin.

I couldn't log in with all except the Digital Ocean console. I removed some special characters from my password and partially cured the problem. I can now login via SSH and Cockpit too now. I still can't log in with Webmin/Virtualmin (10000.)

I searched for how to reset the Webmin password, but it said, which I also thought was that it uses the Linux password. Any suggestions? Thanks. John.

--- Notes:

1) I tried multiple times to restart the server and Webmin after log in via SSH and Cockpit was restored.

2) I will add back the SSH keys after the problem is fixed.

Bonus Question: ;-) I had this problem before and I figured it out, but after many many attempts, I still can't get out of the main or admin server. In Virtualmin, I don't have the drop-down menu with my virtual servers to access.

Anything in log files i don't know which?

versions?

i don't think this but security things, as tls versions, cyphers firewall fail2ban. ( example sslv3 is only possible on port 10000 and your browser / client network blocks even so with tls versions)

I am not saying that Webmin is not good, but I think I am a little shy of the skills needed with Webmin issues. I have started transferring content to a new server/host panel. It will only be a small increase in price per month, and because of their size/income have better support too. I will probably keep a free version of Webmin/Virtualminon at Digital Ocean for testing.

Is your server dedicated, if you cannot get into webmin as root then yes you have a problem.

I have my own problems here but basic root webmin / Virtualmin on fresh install access has never been a problem.

Another thing is this software has the best backup / restore system I have ever seen.

Thanks for the reply, Welshman.

I apologize, but I don't know what "server dedicated" means. it is a VPS droplet at Digital Ocean.

My current Webmin/Virtualmin install was working perfectly for about 4 months. The only that I can think started these issues is when I installed then uninstalled SSH keys.

Yes. Order Shall Return.
