Unable to create new Virtual Servers?

Hi,

I installed Virtualmin following this guide: http://www.patrickjwaters.com/blog/2011-07-13/my-favorite-web-server-set...

I completely installed Virtualmin but when I now click on

Servers > Virtualmin Virtual Servers (GPL)

There is a message saying 'No virtual servers have been created yet' with no buttons or anything to create a new server?

I'd be really greatful for any help, thanks!!

Nick

Argh, sorry, but that "guide" sucks. :)

I'm assuming you're not seeing any "Create server" button because the Webmin framed theme for Virtualmin wasn't installed properly. Normally you have a link "Create new server" under the line "No servers".

The highly recommended way to install Virtualmin is to install a basic naked Ubuntu (choose ONLY OpenSSH in tasksel, no stuff like LAMP!), then download the Virtualmin installer script from this website, and let it do its magic.

Do NOT install Webmin or Apache or anything like that manually. The script does the job just fine.

Webmin Change Language and Theme

Check the webmin UI theme and make sure to Click personal choice and use any other than Gray Framed Theme.

I use Blue Framed Theme And VOLA the missing selection boxs appeared.

Thank you so much snowsnake. That fixed it for me without needed to reinstall or do anything else.

Hi Guys, just to let you know that it is right, if you select the gray interface the page of Virtual servers are not loaded, so you can't create new servers ecc.

Thanks to thesnowsnake for the tips :-D

Have a nice day to all!

Thanks, I also was unable to see the button [Add new virtual server] until changing the theme.

However, when I click on [Re-check and refresh configuration]

it displays: "Module Index" link and "Checking Configuration" and never shows anything else, the browser main area is otherwise blank.

Hi,

I know this is an old thread but just thought I'd mention that I had the same problem today. I've been running Virtualmin for a while and have 20+ virtual servers but suddenly all the buttons to add new servers, etc. disappeared. Changing the theme fixed it although the other options are quite ugly IMHO so I installed a third party theme.

Weird that it suddenly stopped working (I haven't changed the theme recently) but I thought I'd mention it in case it helps anyone.

Martin.

Howdy,

There is a bug where this can happen if the green button next to the domain dropdown list isn't clicked.

So after selecting a domain, click that green button, and then see if the various create options show up for you.

Hi Eric,

I'm a bit confused now. Where's the domain dropdown list (and the green button)?

Curiously, after changing the theme yesterday I was able to add a new domain but today the controls have disappeared again :-/

Thanks,

Martin.

Howdy,

Hmm, do you perhaps have a screenshot of what you're seeing there? That might help in diagnosing the issue you're seeing.

Hey,

I've just realised the new theme I'm using (Authentic Theme) has the controls for adding a new server in a different place but here's what I see on the standard theme:

(The file attachment didn't work for some reason)

Thanks,

Martin.

Howdy,

Ah, it doesn't look like you're using a Virtualmin theme in that screenshot. It looks like that's just the standard Webmin theme.

I'd suggest using either the Virtualmin Framed Theme, or the Authentic Theme, both of which should allow you to create new Virtual Servers.

Ah, OK, didn't know there was a Virtualmin theme! I'm using Authentic Theme now which I think is a lot slicker but it's weird that it used to work with the old theme but not any more. Anyway, thanks for your help!

Martin.

So, I installed virtualmin GPL on a fresh Ubuntu server, and for awhile I had the option to add a new virtual server. But, I added 3 domains, no issues, and now, under Add Servers, all I have is Import and Migrate.

I'm using the latest authentic theme. Tried latest stable, and even latest beta, and it just won't show. I removed some domains, just to see if it was a limit or some such, and nope, still not able to add.

the only time I can click on add, is if install a theme like 'bootstrap' theme, or switch back to the ORIGINAL theme from webmin. It's frustrating :( I love the authentic theme :( Why isn't this working :(

Don't revive old threads. This thread was from 2012 (revived in 2015, but shouldn't have been!), and is unrelated to what you're experiencing. Start a new thread, they're free!
