Fail to import plesk Onyx backup.

Hello.

I'm trying to migrate from plesk Onyx 17.5.3 update 43 to Webmin/virtualmin, but my backup fails to import.

I receive this message. " Validating migration file .. .. validation failed : Could not work out default domain "

Hi again.

I've managed to migrate domain a domain, but subdomains still fail, I've empty public_html folders and databases associated weren't migrated.

Thanks

Can we get a copy of this backup file? The cause may be that Virtualmin isn't handling changes in the backup format in the latest Plesk version.

Hi,

I've the same problem.

If I do backup of only a single domain it is imported that with success (but I confirm that the subdomains still fail, I've empty public_html folders and databases associated weren't migrated..)

If I do backup with the following command, of all server plesk :

plesk bin pleskbackup server

I've the error:

Validating migration file .. .. validation failed : Could not work out default domain

I'm sorry but I cannot give to you my backup file. How can import sites, emails, plesk's users and operate system's users without use a plesk's server full backup ?

Server VirtualMin : Operating system CentOS Linux 7.4.1708 Webmin version 1.881 Usermin version 1.741 Virtualmin version 6.03

Server Plesk: SO ‪CentOS Linux 7.4.1708 (Core)‬ Prodotto Plesk Onyx Versione 17.5.3 Aggiorna #46, ultimo aggiornamento il 29/Apr/2018 06.55

Thank you. Best regards.

Can you create an example backup file from your Plesk server that shows this problem that we could test with?

Hi JamieCameron,

thank you for your response. I created a backup file for test, you can download here :

http://www.occhioinformatico.it/files/AllTest.tgz

There are: - domains - subdomains - mysql database - mails

I want to migrate to VirtualMin soon as possible. Please alert me when you download its with success.

Best Regards Bye BoyMix .

Thanks for that file! Which specific Plesk version is this from though? We've only really tested with Plesk version up to 11, and it looks like the format in that backup file is quite different.

Hi JamieCampern,

the version is : Server Plesk: SO ‪CentOS Linux 7.4.1708 (Core)‬ Plesk Onyx Version 17.5.3 #46, last update 29/Apr/2018 06.55

Look few post ago.

To evening (Italian time) I check it and if it is differet I update to you.

Thank you. BoyMix.

Hi JamieCampern,

did you dowload the file with success ?

By BoyMix.

Have you found a solution for this? I'm thinking of migrating the backup first to a whm and then migrate the whm backup to virtualmin :/

It's going to take some work, as the backup format in Plesk Onyx is totally different to older versions.

As a work-around, I'd recommend re-creating empty domains on your Virtuamin system, and just copying across the web contents.

Hi Jamie and thanks for your answer.

I don't care about the web contents. I wanted an easy way to transfer all the mail accounts and their contents.

I assume that "by hand" is the best solution at the moment :/

btw do you have any insights on how this new backup is structured? Do I need to reset all mail passwords or is there a way to copy them?

Hi,

have you got any news about this feature ?

Thank you Best regards. BoyMix81

i have also the problem to migrate from Plesk Onyx to Virtualmin. I get the error "Validating migration file .. .. Validation fehlgeschlagen : Could not work out default domain" Is there any solution now?

'Best regards
